What's In A Name
Naming your business is another important step. You have to pick a name that is unique and available to use in Virginia. Choose a name that cannot be easily confused with another brand name or national brand. Check with the State Corporation Commission, 804-371-9967, or visit www.scc.virginia.gov/division/clk, to see if the name you have chosen is available. You must also register your business with the SCC if you intend to do business, sell securities, use a trademark, or run a franchise.
